It’s kind of a gloomy day out there, there’s fog over the lake and it’s drizzling out there. Good news is the first day of Spring is March 20th!!
The Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest’s snowmobile, all-terrain vehicle (ATV), utility-terrain vehicle (UTV), horse and bicycle trails are now closed and will remain closed until further notice.

What a beautiful afternoon it is, the mercury on my thermometer is settled at a balmy 46 degrees! I even have my window open, for that burst of Spring air…….
It’s Sunday afternoon and there’s a very cold wind out there and they are predicting one to three inches of snow today. What happened to the 50 degree we had yesterday?
What a beautiful week in the Northwood’s this past week and on Sunday it was a fun day as the “Clam Lake Six” went off to Glidden to play Big Beef Bingo at the VFW.

We start out this week with a “Way To Go Girl!” to Anna Rice. Anna has been named Graduate Student of the Year in Biology for the 2015-2016 School Year for the University of Marquette in Northern Michigan.

With last week’s recent snow that gave the Birkie Foundation something to cheer about and the area snowmobiler’s hit the trails hard. Now it’s a flurry here and a flurry there, just enough to keep the shovels handy….

This past weekend was a great “unseasonal” weekend in the Northwood’s. High in the 30’s and even 40 degrees on Saturday and Sunday. I guess we are experiencing our January thaw. Let’s hope it doesn’t come back to bite us in the butt!

It’s going to be a beautiful day in the Northwood’s, It’s 10:30 a.m. and the mercury is already at 25 degrees. Now let’s hope this kind of weather holds out for the Elk Country Atv Club’s Annual Ice Fishing Contest that will be held this Saturday, January 30 at 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

With the new year here we have many things to look forward to and one such thing is the Elk Country Atv Club’s Annual Ice Fishing Contest but, due to the lack of ice the contest was moved to January (Saturday) 30th at 8 am sharp! Hopefully we’ll have enough ice by then….
As we ring in the New Years with family and friends it’s hard to believe 2015 will end. 2016 will bring many things like wealth and health and the prospect of Spring!
